Helpful and easy to understand
Very easy to understand and helpful. This book is great for someone who just bought the D5500 and wants to learn and understand how to operate it.
Great teaching tool
Did a lot of photography 30 years ago with a SLR. Got interested in doing architectural and outdoor sculptures. Purchased a Nikon D5500, it was amazing and also overwhelming at the same time. So Nikon D5500 for Dummies. First I tried to use it as a reference just looking for specific I needed at the time. Still was not getting the results I wanted and knew the camera could produce. So I started on page one, set my camera on a tripod next to my desk and got in to school/training mode going step by step. I can not tell you how easy and fast my proficiency has developed. After I feel I have master the concepts I go out and shot to reinforce and develop my skill. really a great learning tool.
It's my D5500 bible
As a technical writer I can attest that Julie is a good communicator. The book is well laid out with plenty of helpful illustrations and explanations. Very logical organization with cross referencing and detailed index. It is my bible for learning about my D5500 camera. Highly recommended!
Learn about your D5500 & how to get great pictures with it
I received a Nikon D5500 for Christmas and I wanted to learn all the features and benefits of the camera and this is the book to teach me. In typical "for Dummies" fashion, this book is very detailed and it covers every question you could possibly have and then some. Not only does it cost all the features and functions of the camera but it also covers the proper settings for the type of image you're trying to capture. It goes also covers many terms that most beginners would have little to no knowledge of. I have a much better appreciation for the art of photography, and trust me, is truly an art.
Good basic book on D5500..
I have had a D60 for about 10yrs. ...finally saw the D5500 at a price I could afford. I started working with it and realized this is similar...but does so much more....so I quickly ordered this book...this book was laid out well, and a huge help ....my only complaint with this book is , it would help to put some numbers in a few examples, instead of 'it depends on.....' Some basic info ...would help get started . Example: when shooting in low light , how slow and aperture speed can you use? ...no info ....I found that the experts say to start at no less then 1/60 sec. So at least I had a place to start... Otherwise, the book was great, and I still use it as I try other , more advanced processes.

You will not be disappointed whatsoever!!!! I highly recommend this product!
Excellent book
I love this book. I received the paperback version as a gift for my new camera. It's well written and covers all the myriad of camera features and general photography information in great detail. It covers not just how to use the various features, but also why and when to use them. Most of it is very understandable. I subsequently purchased the Kindle version to use as a reference while travelling.
Excellent Tutorial
No better than the manual except the writing is slightly more simplified and the print is bigger - but the D5500 is a complex machine and this makes it much easier to navigate and use to go good work. Highly Recommended!
Great beginner book
It had a lot of details and for the most part was easy to read. I was starting from scratch so I wished there was a bit more information on what certain things were, but I liked it and found it to be very helpful.
Just What I Needed
Logically laid out, beginning with the necessities first. This is much more pleasant to read than the manual which came with the camera. Quite a bit of color photographic images are contained in the book. Written in conversational style. Also serves as a good reference manual. This is what I was looking for.
